Think & Write

Who are the people living in your home, and what are their roles and duties?

Children need to understand that they have certain responsibilities in their homes. Tell them that similar to the ant that collected food for its family, they also need to take up certain responsibilities. The responsibilities in any household need to be shared by the people who live there. Ask students to think about how the responsibilities are shared in their house among the people and list it in the space provided. It could be something very simple also for younger children. Then, start a conversation about taking up new roles and ask students to contribute to the household work in every way possible to reduce the burden of the parents.

Crack the given code by matching the letters with the respective symbols in the Code Box. Write the matching letters on the corresponding blocks to discover one good quality that we all can learn from the ants.

Activity Corner

Do you know your beans?

Getting students acquainted with the food items we consume gives them an idea about the nutritional value of each one and also gives them a sense of appreciation for the food that is cultivated by farmers painstakingly. Through this activity, we aim to teach students about the different kinds of sprouts through a fun game. You can also use this chance to impart knowledge about the nutritional values of different sprouts. Tell students that sprouts are rich in proteins and carbohydrates which keeps them healthy, energetic, and strong.

Then, conduct the activity in the class using the different types of pulses mentioned in the book. If it is not possible to conduct it in the class, ask students to do this at home with their siblings and neighbours. First, ask students to take a look at the different sprouts and feel them. Then, you can either ask them to name each sprout after they are blindfolded or you can ask them to segregate a bowl that is full of mixed sprouts. If students do the activity at their homes, ask them to share how correctly they did it with their classmates!
